The EVDB Web Services API allows you to build tools and applications that interact with EVDB, the Events & Venues Database.

Cocoa Dev Central has a tutorial for Cocoa (Mac) which assumes only basic PHP knowledge. Check it out:

First, I assume that you have a basic, non-expert understanding of PHP. I think this is a safe assumption because most people seem to play around with a scripting language before they approach Cocoa. PHP is widely used, and the syntax is very similar to C. Second, I assume that your end goal is to write Cocoa programs in Objective-C.

xajax PHP Class Library - The easiest way to develop asynchronous Ajax applications with PHP

xajax is an open source PHP class library that allows you to easily create powerful, web-based, Ajax applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP. Applications developed with xajax can asynchronously call server-side PHP functions and update content without reloading the page.

While battling css, I found some nice linkage to a php hack around the IE css Box Model Problem. Its a great alternative!

Create a query list of ID numbers from an array and put into a string.

$id_numbers = array(1,6,14,32,84,27,49,77);

Handy for sending your own pings inside applications. Requires the XML-RPC for PHP library.

Weblog_Pinger: Update Notification PHP Library

Weblog_Pinger is a PHP class library that can send update notification pings over XML-RPC services such as Weblogs.Com, Blo.gs, Ping-o-Matic and Technorati.

This supports the use of the newer (December 2004) [experimental] extended ping for RSS:

In December 2004, as an experiment, we implemented an “extended ping” handler that allows a caller to specify the address of an RSS feed in addition to the address of the weblog. This could make it easier for applications that use the output of weblogs.com to do interesting things with RSS.
