Radio17 Feb 2006 02:36 pm

Next show - Show #272 - Friday Feb 17, 2006: The official 2 hours of Tech Lineup.

NOTE: As of show #238, Script School radio now runs 90 minutes and Webmaster Cookbook runs 30 minutes, which still makes it the two hours of tech radio show. We’re trying to reduce the podcasting time, as it seems shorter is generally more preferred in the podsphere and also 60 minutes just wasn’t quite enough time for Script School radio.

Today on the Script School Radio show there will be a “world” premiere and listeners will get to see and use something brand new. I’ve been working on this a little while and am looking forward to hearing what folks have to say. It’s part of a bigger project that will be launched to the rest of the world soon. Also on the show:

- see the new, bigger Script School Chalet inside Second Life. That’s right, we’re expanding inside Second Life, now 1024m across and almost 100m high, with custom floors from several group members and adult webmasters. Learn how to get your own floor.
- learn how to get involved with the VTOR blog where blogcharm promises to share revenue with bloggers. This is currently in pre-public launch stage, so now is the ground floor time to get involved
- Yahoo releases AJAX UI library with liberal BSD licensing (commercial apps, ok!)
- Search incentive programs, good or bad idea? MSN Search and Win already gamed
- MakeYouGoHmm in the center of a perfect traffic storm, learn how it happened and how to add a share section to your blog posts
- Winter Olympics in HD, see behind the scenes engineer photos of equipment and blogging
- 50% dropoff in blogging after three months, tips for how not to become part of the blog graveyard

All this and more during the longest running adult webmaster radio show on the web. Hope to see all make it virtually, in RL, or just as a pair of ears listening, whichever you prefer.

The 272nd two hour of tech radio show starts at Script School 2pm PST / 5pm EST / 10pm GMT and your attendence and opinion is welcome and encouraged:

Check out our existing 2D IRC chat:

2D IRC Chat

This has served us well at SS for a number of years and we are not taking it away, but last week we debuted a different kind of chat which we are continuing to build upon.

Last Friday we demoed the Second Life 3D world on Script School Radio and a number of you checked out the Chalet which is shaping up to be our virtual world chatting place. If you missed seeing the Chalet last week, it’s taken on many forms throughout the week and here is the ground before building:

Before Building

Now compare the IRC chat at the top to the new 3D stage with slideshow, group chat and streaming live audio here:

Scriptschool Stage

If that isn’t cool as it already is, then check this out. Every Friday during the show we are going to do $L$L$L giveaways starting with today’s show.

For those not familiar a Linden dollar, these are the currency in Second Life and can be converted into a real $USD so this means we are giving away money every Friday.

Today for show #268 we’re going to give away over $1,000 Linden dollars and every week in 2006 we’ll give more $L than the week before. Who knows how much it will get up to?!

We’re also in the process of looking for much, much bigger land so we will be able to setup bigger in world labs, item dropping and sharing and much more. BTW, we’re going to pay a $500L (minimum) finder’s fee for the person who recommends land we end up buying.

Also, we have setup a couple Script School groups where we’re going to be doing even more fun stuff and giving folks a chance to earn free $Lindens.

Lastly, if you didn’t join up with us last week and/or don’t yet have a Second Life account then visit: http://www.secondlife.com/join/ and in the referral spot please put in my Second Life name: TD Goodliffe

It is FREE to join Second Life and the only major dffferences (that we know about so far anyway) between a free account and a premium (paid) account are:

- free accounts cannot own land (this means if you want to run your own business, you may have to rent land if you don’t want to become a premium member)
- free accounts earn $50L weekly stipend while premium (paid) accounts earn $500L per week

REFERRAL BONUS
Any webmaster who signs up under me: TD Goodliffe will earn a special bonus (more $L$L$) at the following Friday’s show. On today’s show, bonues will be handed out to those who signed up under me last week.

TDavid at Stage

Also, by putting me in as the referral I’ll be able to easily see when you sign online so I can invite you directly to the Chalet where we’ll be during the live show today.

Isn’t this fun? Hope to see all that can make it, we have lots of new stuff planned in 2006! We’re just getting started …
