National Day of Mourning for Katrina
President Bush has declared today a National Day of Mourning in reference to the Katrina victims and family and thus, just like the Mourning declared over the 9/11 attack, Script School Radio has gone dark today. We’ll be back next Friday with show #252 and we’ll be going back to school with a focus on revising and updating our very first course: the PHP scripting course for both the mainstream site (Webmaster Cookbook) and this one.
Those who have been on the fence with learning PHP are welcome to come along and get into this course which will take 32 weeks to unfold. It’s actually a 16 week course, but we’ve split it into two week chunks so that we can cover all the material. My son is going to be going through the course.
In the meantime for those who are wanting to learn something new every day in PHP, I encourage you to visit the new php-scripts.com blog. It’s the revitalizing of my php-scripts diary entries that were popular from 1999-2002. Though not every blog entry is as involved as the diary entries, I hope readers will find it to be a good research for PHP scripting and scripts.
Lastly, I want to encourage and cordially invite all Script School students to stop on by the Script School IRC chatroom. You’ll find me, Forser, Lestat and others students down there talking shop, programming, the web and more.
I am working on a student newsletter to send out — I know, it’s been a long time since the last issue went out. One of the things I’ll point out is that the newsletter has been replaced by this blog. Accordingly, I’ve asked Forser to help me keep this blog updated at least 2-3 times a week so that there will be something fresh for Script School students to see/hear/view. There is no need to email students every week any more, now that RSS has gained so much popularity. We do still intend to email students from time to time when things are happening around Script School so please don’t be too surprised if you see email from Script School.
Have a great weekend and happy coding to you!
